So what do you do when you're bored and can't find anything new on the internet? You write a blog post about you being bored, and not finding anything new on the internet.

OK, so what do I do for the rest of the night?

EDIT: OK thought of something. I'll talk about me switching to Macintosh. That's coming up!

EDIT #2: Ok, I actually recorded an audio blog, as a way of working up to a podcast. I'll post it when I get a chance to make a nifty opening theme in GarageBand.

Rockin' Robin

I'm at work at Q103 and I just saw a robin land in the snow covered side parking lot. Must be spring!

Brad Delp
b. June 12, 1951 - d. March 9, 2007

One of the first albums I ever owned was Boston's debut album. Now when I say album, I mean on vinyl LP. It was a hand-me-down, but it was mine and I loved the music. To this very day. And one of the things I wanted to do was go to a Boston concert, simply because I was too young when I first listened to them, to go. Now, it seems I will never get the chance to see the original members now. But for what it's worth, it was Brad and the rest of his band mates that made me fall in love with rock n' roll. I remember when I got my first gig at a classic rock station. It was at Q92.3, KQRQ in Rapid City, SD. That was the first time I got to play Boston on the air and I loved it.

So long Brad.

OoO, OoO, That Smell!

When I was younger, I got heavy into comic books. When I had a job washing dishes, I would take a good chunk of my paycheck, and buy comic books from the local news stand. It was quite possible that I would drop like $60 from one paycheck! And since we didn't really have a any kind of a comic book shop in town, I would have to travel to Schenectady, to Electric City Comics to get some back issues I needed or titles I collected that I would never be able to get locally. And since I was still working on getting a drivers license and had no car, well, that was kind of hard to do. So I settled for what I could get locally. And when I did go down to Schenectady or Rotterdam or something with my friends or parents, I would talk them into taking me over to VanVranken St. to Electric City.

One of the things I remember about those times, is my folks had gone out shopping one day, and I stayed home to watch TV or something, and when they returned, I helped put away groceries and such. In the groceries there were some Renuzit Air fresheners. You know the ones, they look like the Coneheads from Saturday Night Live? Yeah those ones. Well, mom had gotten me one for my room. So I took it up stairs and opened it up and let it do it's thing. At first, it didn't really smell all that great to me, but it wasn't like a skunk, so I tolerated it and did my things that I was doing at that age... read comics.

Amazing Spider-man, Area-88, Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, and a few of Marvel's New Universe titles. Mostly Starbrand, but a couple of Nightmask and DP8. Especially if there was a crossover of Starbrand in it. God bless Jim Shooter for that title. Anyway, when I bought comics, I would read them while laying on my stomach on my bed. When I finished, they would go into the over turned cover from a box of copier paper. You know, the big heavy ones that had like 12 reams of paper in them . When I filled it up with comics, I would take all of them and put them in the empty box that the cover came from, And when that got full, I would buy a storage box and some backboards and bags and bag all my comics. All the while I did this, I would have those Renuzit air fresheners in my room. So now, almost 20 years later, when I walk by the cleaning products isle in a store, if I can smell those air fresheners, my mind goes back to those days. Reading my comics that I loved so much, and still do.

So today I ended up buying a couple of those air fresheners and put one in my room. And now, it fills up my room and with every breath, I go back in time, back into that pocket universe I created in my mind, where Ken Connell and Duck were real. Where Peter Parker was debating telling MJ who he really is. And where Shin Kazama, wanted nothing more then to leave Asran and go back to Tokyo and find his girlfriend Royoko and get even with Kanzaki for taking her away from him. This was where I called home.

But now I'm much older, still read comic books, but the dream of becoming an artist for Marvel is kind of fading now. I don't draw as well as I used to. And I seem to have gotten side tracked with that whole broadcasting non-sense. (Yeah, that'll lead to something. HA! :P )

But it's always nice to go home again. Because you never forget anything that makes home... well... home.
